Evaluation and treatment services are performed in home, via teletherapy, or in the community based on clinical recommendation.
At this time I can provide the necessary forms for you to submit services for reimbursement to your insurance company, but I cannot accept insurance myself. I do accept private pay. I accept payment through cash, check, cashier's check, major credit cards, and HSA/FSA. I also accept the Step Up for Students scholarship.
A single session may be 30 minutes or 60 minutes depending on clinical recommendation. The number of sessions depends entirely on the needs of the child. Sometimes clinical recommendation is to have more than one therapy session in a week. If a child requires treatment beyond 6 months, a progress report is written, goals are adjusted as needed, and treatment is continued until goals are met.
An evaluation session is 60 to 120 minutes and may involve phone call interviews before/after the evaluation itself.
Below is the fee scale I use for every client:
Evaluation (60 - 120 minutes) - $200
Treatment session (30 minutes) - $50
Treatment session (60 minutes) - $100
Depending on your insurance, you may be able to get reimbursed for some or all of these costs by submitting a superbill. I also accept Step Up for Students scholarships.
A speech and/or language evaluation will take 60 to 120 minutes, plus any necessary intake forms, interviews, and questionnaires that are completed before or after the assessment. The assessment itself will take place in your home, because this will allow for demonstration of the most typical behavior possible, and be familiar and comfortable for the child. I make sure to build rapport with the child and family and may conduct informal (e.g., play-based) and formal (e.g., structured) tests and observations. I base my evaluation plan on the concerns of the parent and child (when applicable), and any physician/external referral information that may be provided.
Speech-language pathologists are trained to provide a wide range of treatment to individuals across the lifespan. I have found that I am most effective if I can focus on a specific area and age group. My area of expertise includes children from 18 months through 12th grade, specifically supporting challenges in the following areas:
Understanding language (e.g., following directions)
Spoken language (e.g., use of vocabulary and grammar)
Social language and communication (e.g., participation in social interactions, self-regulation, self-expression, perspective taking, etc.)
Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems (e.g., use of no-, low-, or high-tech AAC systems as a means of supporting access to communication for all)
Speech sound disorders (e.g., unintelligibility, difficulty pronouncing sounds beyond when the sound would be expected to be clear)
